SUNDERMARCH

Class

Shaper

Magic is not cast. It is made.

In active development

The Shaper doesn't cast magic. The Shaper makes it.

A Shaper physically creates, forms, compresses, suspends, manipulates, reshapes and collapses magical phenomena. Magic doesn't simply appear when an ability is used: making it is part of the fantasy, and you should be able to see the Shaper shaping.

Held together

What is made can fail

What a Shaper makes is held together as an intentional form. When that hold is lost, it doesn't just fade away: it fails, collapses, disperses or falls, and ordinary physical behaviour returns.

Shaping can reach beyond the spell itself. Around a formation, dust, rain and loose debris can reveal that reality is behaving incorrectly.

Ability concepts

Magic, made

A few examples from a class in active development. None of this is final or playable yet, and details will change as the Shaper is built.

Showcase

Cinderform

Sparks, heat, smoke and unstable material gather into a rough formation. The Shaper physically constrains and compresses it until it holds together, then releases it.

  • Coherent Shell

Shaping isn't only for attack. Coherent Shell is a defence built from incomplete, moving plates and fragments, rather than a glowing magical bubble.

  • Suspension

Gravity becomes unreliable. Dust, rain and stones reveal the altered state, and when it ends, normal physics reasserts itself all at once.

Made, then remade

Reshape. Collapse.

What a Shaper makes doesn't stop mattering the moment it's made. Formations already in play can be maintained, worked with and changed as the fight moves, and when the time comes, deliberately undone.

Collapse

Rather than simply detonating everything, the Shaper deliberately withdraws what holds their formations together, and each one physically fails according to what it actually is, rather than simply disappearing.

Mastery isn't about bigger explosions. As a Shaper grows, what they can make, and hold together, becomes stranger and more ambitious.

In combat

Always shaping

Shapes and manipulates magical formations to damage enemies, control space and alter the battlefield.

An ability-rich class, not a stationary charge-up mage. A Shaper stays active: moving, shaping, releasing, working with formations already in play, and deciding when to maintain, reshape or collapse what they have made.

Some formations take shape almost instantly. Others can be held, left in the battlefield, or reshaped. There is no single "hold to charge" rule for every ability. The aim is an accessible start with a high ceiling for mastery.

In active development

Still taking shape

You are one of the Ironbound. The Shaper is one of the class paths you can walk. Its identity and direction are set, and the class is being built now. Nothing shown here is playable yet. The Shaper's Aether Nexus has not been revealed.
